The medical leeches (Hirudo medicinallis) are grown under hygienic conditions and may only be used once according to the applicable rules.
The saliva of the leech contains numerous positive substances, the best known of which are:
Hirudin
Eglin
Bdellin and
Hementin
These substances are u. a. anti-inflammatory, antibiotic, anticoagulant, bactericidal and circulation-promoting properties.
The leech is placed at the desired location with its suction cup. He saws his skin with his three razor-sharp jaws.
Its saliva prevents the pain from being passed on, so that the patient can aspirate about 8 ml to 10 ml without being noticed.
The bleeding from about 20 ml to 30 ml can last a few hours, which leads to relief of the surrounding tissue, an improvement in blood circulation and lymph flow, which stimulates the excretion of waste products.
This treatment also activates the self-healing powers.
